Fruit Chaat

Fruit Chaat

A vibrant mix of fresh fruits where natural sugars are balanced by sharp lime and warm spices. Pomegranate seeds pop under the teeth, releasing juice over the tender mango flesh.

Instructions

0/3
  1. Fruit preparation

Cut the apple, mango, and bananas into regular 1 cm cubes. The pieces should be the same size for a uniform bite.

    10 min
  2. Seasoning

In a large bowl, mix the lime juice, ground cumin, chili powder, sea salt, chaat masala, and black salt (kala namak). Stir until the spices are well dissolved in the juice.

    2 min
  3. Coating and finishing

Pour the fruit into the bowl. Mix gently so as not to crush the bananas. Add the pomegranate seeds and chopped mint. The fruit should be shiny and well-coated with the spiced juice.

    3 min

Chef's tips

  • Do not prepare this salad too far in advance; the salt draws moisture out of the fruit, making it lose its crunch.
  • If you find Chaat Masala, replace the salt and cumin with a large tablespoon of that spice mix.

Storage

Consume immediately. Can be kept for a maximum of 2 hours in the fridge, after which the fruits soften.
