Instructions

0/3
  1. Bread preparation

Spread the salted butter generously on one side of each slice of sandwich bread. This buttered side will be in contact with the pan to achieve even browning.

    2 min
  2. Assembly

Place the cheddar on the unbuttered side of one slice. Close with the second slice, buttered side facing out. The cheese should be well distributed to the edges.

    1 min
  3. Sear and melt

Heat a pan over medium heat. Place the sandwich in. Press lightly with a spatula. When the bread is golden and crispy, flip. The cheese should start to ooze out the sides.

    6 min

Chef's tips

  • Don't heat the pan too high, or the bread will burn before the cheese melts.
  • Use a weight or a meat press for perfect contact between the bread and the pan.

Storage

Eat immediately to maintain crunchiness. Does not store well.
